MoJoW & the Vibration Army: Bio
MoJoW
Moriah(Mo) and John(Jo) Whoolilurie(W) make up the dynamic duo MoJoW. On January 2nd 2002 Moriah and John met and were married 11 days later. During those first 11 days their lives were changed forever as the vision of The Vibration Army was born. MoJoW envisioned The Vibration Army as a vehicle for using music, art, dance and all positive vibrations to help create a better world.
Band
MoJoW’s stage show is an eclectic mix of original danceable compositions
inspired by music from around the world. JoW’s live guitar and keyboard
loops, MoW’s deep bass grooves, and live drums are the foundation of
MoJoW’s music. Combined with conscious lyrics, vocal harmonies,
powerful sax, costume, dance and JoW's innovative Looptility Belt, MoJoW
creates a performance that is not only appealing to the ear and
irresistible to the feet, but intriguing to watch.
Belt-Pack
With looping pedals attached to his waist, a saxophone strapped to his chest, and a microphone in hand; JoW is a six-foot-eight-red-headed-beat-boxing-music-making-machine. With MoW’s platform shoes and funky dance moves, their matching outfits and accapella grooves, MoJoW brings their funky show everywhere they go.
Education
One of MoJoW’s main goals is to empower and educate young people. Addressing issues such as respect for oneself, others and the environment, voter responsibility and artistic empowerment; MoJoW presents age appropriate school assemblies enjoyed by all.
Elementary Schools
Anti-Bullying:
Students will learn to distinguish the 5 roles commonly displayed when bullying or name calling take place. They will also learn to recognize that most people play many roles during their lifetime and thus develop strategies for confronting these issues.
Elementary, Middle and High Schools
Healthy Planet Healthy People:
Students will explore the connection between healthy living, eating and feeling, and a healthy planet.
Let Your Voice Be Heard:
Through guidance and example students will be encouraged to let their voices be heard. Interactive songs and co-operative games will empower kids to respect themselves and others.
High Schools
Democracy in Action:
This non-partisan assembly will engage students in a discussion about the importance of playing an active role in our democracy and explore current political and social issues through music.
Outreach
MoJoW has consistantly supported groups working towards positive change. They have writen songs for organizations such as, Dennis Kucinich for President 2004 (Campaign Anthem), South Central Farm and Farm Lab.
